LFW A/W 2012: Raffaele Ascione

Hi everyone!

I'd like to introduce today another designer from the london Fashion Week A/W 2012: Raffaele Ascione.

Raffaele Ascione is an Italian/German designer that graduated from Central St Martins in 2011.
He presented a collection at the FLW A/W 2011 already, and this year decided for the first time to present his collection at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

He uses for his collection classic basketball jerseys and transforms them to create strong silhouettes.

Based on Sportswear, this collection is given a sophisticated twist by the laces used (French lace house Sophie Hallette collaborated with the designer to embellish the garments and create a romantic effect).

Lampo Italy, as another sponsor, added satin zips to pieces of the collection.

LFW exhibitors: Morana Kranjec

Today I would like to draw the attention on one of the exhibitors of the fashion week,
which I found very interesting for the technique and methods used.

At the Vauxhall Fashion Scout, one of the designers on the permanent exhibition
aside the catwalk shows was Morana Kranjec.

Morana Kranjec is a Croatian designer who studied Textile Technology at the University of Zagreb.

She has been strongly inspired by Japan in her designs, using armour shapes,
but also creating origamis for her dresses.

Her whole collection is hand-made using paper, and every single piece shows
very bold and rich Lady-Gaga-style designs.

Morana Kranjec has been inspired by Goran Konjevod’s origami works and by Iris Van Herpen’s designs. The shapes are usually quite simple, but the construction of the patterns is very complex.

Her collection conveys futuristic designs yet emphasizing women shapes, but it is also very interesting because it combines fashion with architecture through 3D forms.
