"7 Sins" Fashion Shooting

Hello ladies and gents,

Today I will be talking about one of the last shootings we organised with my friends. We chose as a topic “7 sins” and decided about 7 different frames for photography at my friend’s studio.

Choosing such a topic was a very bold choice and a real challenge, given all the different moods and sets we had to create for the pictures, and the fact that we did not want to get into clichés like posing in underwear for “lust” – not that the male public would have protested, but we just wanted to create more original / modern visions of the different sins.

It took us several days at different times to meet and prepare the backgrounds and outfits for the different sets, the worst one to organise being “sloth”, due to the rich costumes and atmosphere to be created: on that last day 5 hours were spent on getting ready for a 3 hours shooting.

But with the great talent of my friends who took the pictures, and my styling ideas we managed to make every time good shots with very little means.

The result is worth it as you can see in those pictures which I have selected from the whole set, one per theme:

Vanity

Gluttony

Envy

Greed

 Wrath

 Lust

 Sloth

I definitely had the most fun during “sloth” (and this picture is by far my favourite one) as I am a big fan of Marie-Antoinette styling. But it was also very nice to eat all the cakes after the "Gluttony" shooting (YES they are real ones !!!)

A big thanks again to Mandy for all the efforts and talent put into each of these events.

My next shooting will be taking place in a cemetery
for the original but very tricky theme “Death & Beauty”.

See you soon !

Fashion Finance No.1 - January 2012

Hello everyone and happy new year 2012 !

I will start the year with a - pretty - serious but very interesting topic:

As a finance employee, understanding fashion companies from the financial side gives me an invaluable insight into their strategic decisions.

Here is a short summary that analyses the Fashion year 2011 under a different angle for those of you who are interested: indeed, different things of large importance happened from a financial point of view in 2011:

-    Feb 2011: Paris Group (Dubai retailer) buys Gianfranco Ferre

-    May 2011: Labelux (German luxury-goods holding company) buys Jimmy Choo for over £500m

-    June 2011: Jones Group (New York-based firm which owns fashion brands such as Nine West)  buys Kurt Geiger for about £215m

-    June 2011: LBO France takes a 20% stake in The Kooples

-    June 2011: Prada’s listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange

-    June 2011: High-street fashion chain Jane Norman sells 31 stores after falling into administration

-    June 2011: Ferragamo’s listing on the Milan Stock Exchange

From now on I will make “financial markets updates” on the fashion sector as soon as major events take place, aside of my other usual articles about the main fashion shows and my modelling experience.

See you soon !
