LFW A/W 2012, Bernard Chandran

The presentation of Bernard Chandran’s A/W 2012 collection took place
at the symbolic LFW location of the Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

The show was attended by a few VIPs including Keisha Buchanan
from the Sugababes and Pandemonia.

This season vintage roll fringes were complemented by red lipstick,
giving a refined look to this collection.

Bernard Chandran worked with a specific set of colours: black remained a basic,
while you could see as well grey, brown, pale pink and dark blue. Some flashes of red were seen now and then (lipstick and nail colour), especially on one of the collars created.

The designer created specific collars for this collection using geometric shapes. The different collars were added to most clothes and made them even more sophisticated.

Bernard Chandran used for this collection mostly lace and transparent fabrics,
as well as satin in different tones and leather.

The finishing touch specific to the designer was given by tiny transparent triangles on the shoulders, made of shiny / plastic-like material. This detail, present on some of the clothes, emphasized again the modern effect by giving the shoulders a larger scale and a square shape.

The whole set tends to show the look of a modern and sophisticated woman from the city, with dresses for special occasions as well as suits and coats for casual wear.

This collection was very interesting in terms of the detailed work carried out by Bernard Chandran, while combining a vintage look with modern clothes

Looking forward to the SS 2013 collection !

LFW A/W 2012, Ashley Isham

Ashley Isham’s A/W 2012 Fashion Show took place at MYBEAUTIFULCITY on Saturday afternoon.

Ashley Isham graduated from Middlesex university and started his brand in 2000.
This season the designer has been using prints as well as a range of nuanced colours
like emerald, fig, smoked pearl and antique gold.

Ashley Isham usually sticks to very classy colours which bring the right elegance to the dresses and suits. Gold and bronze are some of them, and favourites throughout his collections.

Compared to the SS 2012 collection which focused on silk pieces, the A/W 2012 collection was made of stretch velvet, French lace and leather in bronze and caviar black. Some of the leather dresses presented this season show further inspiration from the laser-cut leather dresses presented at the SS 2012 Show, while maintaining the line of luxurious tones chosen so far.

Ashley Isham created simple silhouettes combining complexe tailoring and contemporary styling. The designer aimed for this season at creating a smart but urban look inspired by the city girl.

After the show we were kindly invited backstage where the press interviewed the designer.

LFW A/W 2012, Alice Lee

Alice Lee presented her A/W 2012 collection in the second room of the
Vauxhall Fashion Scout (upstairs) on Saturday afternoon.

This whole collection was inspired by authors such as Rackham, Beardsly and Dante,
and follows thoughts of a dark romantic aesthetic.

Alice Lee created this collection using knit and leather, creating
minimalist shapes with one specific detail emphasized.

Some of the pieces looked like they were directly taken out of the movie “The Matrix”, with effects of computer matrices on the body, and ropes climbing up the dresses like snakes.

This was a very futuristic collection actually contrasting with the old-style room where it was shown. The fact that all the models had to learn to walk with hair covering their eyes also gave a pretty original touch to the whole show, and was letting people think they are guided by their minds - another futuristic effect of this look that Alice Lee created.
